At Spangdahlem Middle School, we embrace diversity among all students and staff. We would like to highlight that this month is Hispanic Heritage Month. Here are some fascinating facts:
1. Historical Significance: The month-long celebration began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week and was expanded to a month by President Ronald Reagan in 1988.
2. Independence Celebrations: September 15th marks the anniversary of independence for several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Honduras, and Nicaragua.
3. Growing Influence: The Hispanic and Latino population is one of the fastest-growing ethnic groups in the United States, making up a significant portion of the country's population.
4. Cultural Richness: The month is an opportunity to recognize the diverse cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans, including their art, music, cuisine, and traditions.
