Principal's Update

Welcome to SY26-27!

What an incredible start to the school year! We are so proud of how hard our Bulldogs are working in their classes. Our students have truly impressed us with their focus, effort, and willingness to rise to the expectations we have set for them.

We are also incredibly proud of how well students have embraced the new digital device policy. In our first two weeks of school, we have only had to confiscate one phone, one smartwatch, and one set of earbuds—an outstanding reflection of our students’ responsibility and respect for our learning environment.

Thank you to our students for stepping up and to our families for reinforcing these expectations at home. Our Bulldogs are off to a fantastic start, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish this year! 🐾

Parents:

  • Please continue to support your student with charging their Chromebooks overnight & bringing them to school every day (daily loaners should be an Emergency Plan; not 'Plan A')
  • New Nurse Office Procedures: A new nurse pass and follow-up communication procedures will begin next week. Every day, parents/sponsors of students who visited the nurse's office will receive a notification email letting parents know that their child was seen that day. For further questions about the visit, parents are able to reach out to Nurse Kelly at Kelly.Pretorius@dodea.edu.
  • Sign-In/Sign-Out: Parents are required to come in to the front office for sign-in/out if a student is entering or leaving campus between 0800-1440.

🐾 Upcoming Important Dates:

Student Council

Student Council season is upon us! Students interested in running for an office met with Ms. Santana to talk posters, slides and voting-- and it sure does look to be a great race! Elections will be held on Monday, Aug 31st, during seminar. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, Sept 1 during morning announcements. POC: Terry.Santana@dodea.edu  Best of luck to all of our wonderful leaders!!

September 11th Memorial Ceremony

We (SpMS & SpHS) will hold the annual 9/11 Ceremony in the Commons at 0800 on Friday, 11 September. We are proud to support our AFJROTC cadets as they will be in formation on stage, facilitate a 5-minute speech from a Distinguished Guest from the base leadership team, and a reading of the events that took place on 9/11.  The entire event should take about 25 minutes.

Open House

Please join us for our September 2 Open House (1600-1700) as we celebrate the start of a new year together. You’ll connect with teachers, preview curriculum and supports, and learn how we communicate grades, feedback, and upcoming events. Your involvement strengthens our school community! Please note, this is not a Conference time, rather a quick walk in your student's shoes. Parent-Teacher conferences can be scheduled directly with teachers, or you can schedule a time on October 30 when SpMS has our official Parent-Teacher Conference Day.

Have a Voice in Our School — Join SAC!

Want to stay connected and have a voice in what’s happening at SpMS? Join us for our School Advisory Committee (SAC) meetings! SAC brings together parents, students, staff, and community members to share ideas, provide input, and help strengthen our school.

Our first SAC meeting of the year is Thursday, September 3 at 3:15 PM in the SpMS Conference Room. Whether you have ideas to share, questions to ask, or simply want to learn more about what’s happening at SpMS, we’d love to have you at the table!

Your voice matters. Your perspective matters. Come be part of the conversation! 🐾 Flyer of dates/information can be found below or visit https://spangdahlemms.dodea.edu/school-family-involvement

We are still in need of a SAC President, SAC Vice President, and SAC Secretary. Teacher representative: Chantel.Waddell-Saville@dodea.edu

As always, thank you for your partnership in ensuring a safe and supportive environment for our students!

Forgot your Chromebook at home?

  • Option 1: Students can call home in the front office to ask a parent to bring their computer in from home.
  • Option 2: If option 1 is not viable, students need to go to the front office to check out a 'rental' for the day so they can fully participate in their learning ('rental' Chromebooks are due returned to the front office at the end of the school day and do not go home).

Buses & STO

  • All bus-riders are REQUIRED to have their bus pass on them every day - AM & PM. Bus drivers will submit bus referrals to the Student Transportation Office/School if students do not have their valid pass with them, along with any other procedure/behavior discrepancies.
  • Thank you for your patience as the Student Transportation Office finalizes routes. Please reach out to the STO with any questions or concerns: EMAIL EIFEL.SBO@DODEA.EDU or PHONE DSN: 324-406-6649, COMM: +49 631 7106 6649.

Communication

  • You are encouraged to reach out with any questions or concerns! We always tell our students that communication is key, and this applies to our adults too :)
  • At SpMS we support communication through the chain-of-command. Please first start with your child's teacher.
  • Please reach out to your student(s)' teachers to clarify any misunderstandings or questions you might have.
