Spangdahlem Middle School Student Council Hosts Overnight Lock-In Event

Spangdahlem Middle School’s Student Council hosted an overnight Lock-In event that brought together more than half of the student body for an evening of activities, entertainment and supervised fun on campus.

SPANGDAHLEM, Germany — Spangdahlem Middle School’s Student Council hosted an overnight Lock-In event that brought together more than half of the student body for an evening of activities, entertainment and supervised fun on campus.

The event welcomed 120 of the school’s 187 students in grades 6–8, representing approximately 64% participation. From 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., students rotated through 36 activity options, allowing them to choose how they spent the night.

Organized under the leadership of Student Council sponsor Terry Santana, the Lock-In featured games, movie screenings, video games, snacks and a student talent show. During the talent show, students showcased their creativity while classmates cheered them on.

“I’m so proud of the Student Council for organizing and hosting a night of fun for the school,” said Stefanie Adams, principal of Spangdahlem Middle School. “The games, events and time together helped reinforce positive relationships and our Bulldogs RISE Up! expectations, and allowed our student community to build memories that will last a lifetime.”

Students said the opportunity to perform and participate made the night especially memorable.

“I was really nervous but really excited to perform in the talent show,” said Willa K., a student participant. “We practiced so much.”

Another student, Matt G., summed up the experience simply. “We had so much fun — can we do it again?” he said.

School staff intentionally designed the event to encourage positive peer interaction and strengthen connections in a relaxed setting. By offering both structured and free-choice activities, the Lock-In promoted teamwork, communication and school spirit throughout the night.

“The Student Council Board put in so much work and truly made this a fun, student-centered experience for their friends,” said Santana, an eighth-grade social studies and math teacher.

The event was supported by the Spangdahlem Middle School PTSA, along with school staff and parent volunteers who remained on campus overnight to supervise activities and ensure student safety.

Parents also expressed appreciation for the effort and coordination behind the event.

“Our kids had such a great night,” said the parent of an eighth-grade student. “We were nervous at first, but the kids really enjoyed it. We appreciate all the hard work the staff, students and overnight volunteers put in to make this happen for our kids.”

The Student Council Lock-In highlighted student leadership and strong collaboration among students, staff, families and volunteers, reinforcing a positive school culture at Spangdahlem Middle School.
